Image Alignment

ImageAligner is an optional add-on to the Xpress production systems. ImageAligner makes adding custom printed text to your pre-printed discs easy. To print on a pre-printed disc, ImageAligner is first “trained” to recognize the image of that disc. The camera mounted over the printer takes a snapshot of the disc to be imprinted with the text. This image appears on-screen along with a control to rotate the image to its proper orientation. The ImageAligner software rotates the text to be printed on the disc to exactly match the orientation of the disc in the printer, resulting in perfectly aligned printed discs every time. There are no moving parts in ImageAligner and therefore no need for “calibration bars” or other special alignment marks to be printed on your discs. Rotation alignment is accurate to ½ degree. The entire alignment process only takes a few seconds.

Serialisation

This is the process of printing an individual serial number or unique reference to each disc surface to make each one more traceable and therefore more secure.

Fingerprinting & Barcoding

This allows you to embed a unique fingerprint into each disc content to allow traceability of the data on the disc. A barcode can also be printed onto the disc surface so that each disc is scanned in and out of production. If the data were then to appear online at a later date the data could be traced to the person who originally had this. This is used very effectively by one of our customers to monitor unauthorised copying or publishing, and has greatly improved the impact of their marketing campaigns.

Why the name Blu-ray? (often misspelled as Blue-ray)
The technology employs the use of a blue wavelength laser to read and write to the disc. Mis-spelling it from ‘Blue-ray’ to ‘Blu-ray’ allows it be adopted as a distinctive trademark.

CD Team have successfully installed Blu-ray duplicators for several businesses within the enterainment industry. One of the first was Abbey Road Studios.
