Disc Duplication

CD, DVD & Blu-ray (BD) Disc Duplication Service

Short run CD, DVD and Blu-ray disc duplication can often be turned around same day using our disc duplication service. We can handle any quantity, runs over 1000 copies will take a little longer and are produced using our Disc Replication service.

What is Disc Duplication?

DIsc duplication is direct disc to disc copying. This is a flexible option for quantities below 1000. We duplicate directly from your supplied master CD, DVD or Blu-ray disc to blank discs and pack them according to your requirements. We can then print the discs using either a single black thermal ribbon print or full colour inkjet or thermal picture print (see our Disc Printing Service).

This disc duplication method allows us to be able to print the discs ahead of receiving the master content, it is very often the case that the artwork is ready, but not the data content until the very last moment.

However many copies of your disc you require, CD Team will ensure the smooth running and timely delivery of your project, resulting in a quality product you can be proud of.

Disc Duplication - the Facts

What duplication means
CD, DVD and Blu-ray disc duplication is much like photocopying, since light (laser) is used to produce a duplicate. You can take a master disc and make copies of it in a short time. The disc copies are exact replicas of the master, containing the exact files and data that the master disc has. The process copies the contents directly from one CD, DVD or Blu-ray disc to another disc using a laser and is done using a disc duplicator.

What you need
You will need a reliable disc-copier or duplicator and data-management software. Our in-house duplication department has a range of professional disc duplicators, why not book a demo and see the production environment first hand.

What a Disc duplicator does
A CD, DVD, Blu-ray duplicator essentially functions as a photocopier. It is either a device that's already built in to the PC or an external writable drive. The duplicator uses a moving laser much like a regular CD player, except that it not only has a 'read laser', it also has a 'write laser'. The write laser interacts differently with the blank disc by producing a stronger light to change the disc's surface and 'burn' the data onto it.

How Disc duplication is done
When people say they 'burn' discs, they mean copying data from a master source - a hard disc, a floppy disc or another disc - to a blank disc. A CD-R, DVD-R, BD-R will allow you to copy data on it but not change it. Whatever data you burn on to the disc will remain unchanged; you cannot make modifications or delete anything. With a CD-RW, DVD-RW, BD-RW, however, you can erase data and copy over and over again.

Speed matters
The rate at which discs are duplicated will depend greatly on several things: the amount of data on the disc, the speed of the copy disc, the speed of the connection between your PC and duplicator and the speed of the duplicator itself. At a 1x speed for example, the disc will spin at the same rate it does when you put it in a CD player. So if you have a CD that contains 120 minutes of recording, you will be able to duplicate that CD in 120 minutes as well.

Print Options
The discs are printed using either use a single black thermal ribbon print or full colour inkjet or thermal print depending on your disc artwork. Disc duplication allows complete flexibility and speed in that we can print the discs ahead of receiving the master content.
