Data Spanning onto Discs
Our Microtech and Rimage duplicators now have the ability to span any amount of data across multiple discs.
Disc Spanning allows you to select a hard disk, server or collection of data with no size limit. The data will then be automatically split across the necessary amount of CD, DVD or BDR discs and sent to the system to be produced. Each disc will be printed with a design of your choice and automatically labelled with the disc number (eg disc 3 of 10). A barcode can also be printed onto the disc if further traceability is needed.
The only difference between spanning with Microtech and Rimage is how the data looks on the disc once the job is complete. Both systems put a TOC (Table of contents) file on each disc so you will easily be able to find the file you need.
- Microtech keeps the original format and file structure of the data so it appears exactly as it did in its original form.
- Rimage compresses the data and places a viewer on each disc. The advantage of using this utility to span is that you can split individual files across discs if they are too large.
